Lot N. 251

Politica istruzione a Principi sapere ben governare li stati

Manuscript, Quarto-folio, bound in rigid vellum with contemporary label indicating the title.

In good condition, with some humidity stains, appears complete.

The manuscript is divided into two parts:

First part: Covers everything that princes and politicians should know, including state organization, public ethics, and justice, with attention to military matters.

Second part: Possibly by a different author, as the handwriting does not fully correspond to the first part. It addresses various aphorisms and reflections on papal conclaves for the election of popes, focusing on the reasons for the exclusion of candidates and the factors leading to investiture, with specific references to popes and ecclesiastical figures.

The manuscript is likely composed between the 12th and 13th centuries. Of great historical and scholarly interest.
