Format: Folio, hardcover vellum, spine with title in manuscript.
Description:
Decorative initials and headpieces throughout; fine typographic mark on the last page. The edges of the book are colored. Complete, in good condition without notable defects. The first page beneath the title bears a fine engraving depicting a noble coat of arms, featuring the papal keys and pavilion, as well as a winged dragon, a common heraldic element.
At the end of the text, the final two pages (not printed) are manuscript, containing reflections and notes on the book’s subject, comparing ancient and contemporary military practices.
Significance: A significant example of late Renaissance military literature. Rare volume.
