Trattato di Equitazione - Metodo Baucher (Chieti, 1857)
Rare Abruzzese edition of the celebrated equestrian treatise by François Baucher, entitled “Volgarizzamento del Metodo d’Equitazione fondato sopra i nuovi principii” (“Popularization of the Riding Method Based on New Principles”). The work is connected to the High School of Riding through C. Raabe and edited in the Italian version by Giulio Lefèvre.
The Baucher Method represented a true break with previous equestrian traditions, introducing the concept of “lightness” and total relaxation of the horse. This specific edition, printed in Chieti in 1857 by the press of Federico Vella, is particularly rare, documenting the spread of avant-garde French techniques in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.

Baucher is considered the father of modern horsemanship. His texts are foundational for the study of the evolution of military and sporting training techniques. The presence of the period portrait and the provenance from a provincial press like Chieti make this copy a piece of remarkable interest for the history of technical publishing in southern Italy.
