Nuovissima Guida del Viaggiatore in Italia, Guida Storica dell'Italia - Edizione Artaria (1852)

A specimen of great historical and cartographic interest entitled “Nuovissima Guida del Viaggiatore in Italia”, published in Milan in 1852 by the prestigious publishing house Ferdinando Artaria e Figlio.

The work represents the 10th edition of one of the most famous and widely circulated guidebooks of the 19th century, fundamental for travelers undertaking the Grand Tour. The title page states that the volume is enriched with various partial itinerary maps and 15 topographical plans of the main cities of Italy, indispensable tools for the period.

Binding: Hardcover in original full publisher’s cloth of dark color, featuring a distinctive “wallet” (or envelope-style) closure with a shaped flap, typical of pocket guides intended for practical use while traveling.
