Giorgio Vasari - "Alcune Vite di Pittori" (Parma, 1844)

Rare mid-19th-century edition from Parma containing a selection of the celebrated biographies by Giorgio Vasari, “Pittore Aretino.” The volume, entitled “Alcune Vite di Pittori” (“Some Lives of Painters”), gathers the most significant profiles of the artists who defined the Italian Renaissance. Printed in Parma in 1844 by Pietro Fiaccadori, a renowned local publisher of the period.

The frontispiece is adorned with a fine woodcut vignette depicting a monument surrounded by nature, accompanied by the motto “Il più bel fior ne coglie” (“He gathers the fairest flower”), highlighting the anthology-like intent of the publication.
