De’ Diritti dell’Uomo libri VI di Nicola Spedaleri Siciliano

Printed in Assisi in 1791, dedicated to Monsignor D. Fabrizio Ruffo, General Treasurer of the R.C.A. and Commissioner of the Sea.

Half-folio volume, first edition, with original marbled boards and leather spine titled in gilt. The text is divided into six books and features a fine copperplate frontispiece by Pietro Bombelli, based on a design by Giuseppe Errante, depicting the author. Lightly colored edges.

The work, printed by the Pope’s order, addresses the rights of man, arguing that only Christianity provides their proper protection, in opposition to Rousseau’s theses. The stated place of printing is false: it was actually published in Rome by Salvioni.

Volume in very good condition.
