The volumes are preserved in their original contemporary publisher’s wrappers in plain laid paper. The title pages are adorned with fine copper-engraved vignettes: an allegorical composition with globe, books, and trumpets for Volumes II–IV, and a decorative shell motif for Volume V. The volumes retain their original deckle edges (untrimmed leaves), a feature highly prized by collectors for the integrity of the paper stock.
Condition:
Genuine copies in their original state as issued. Normal signs of age are present on the paper covers and along the margins of the leaves, typical of period wrappers. The interiors are complete and sound.
Bio-bibliographical notes:
The work, begun by Francesco Antonio Marcucci and continued by various scholars, is an indispensable reference for the literary history of the Marche region, providing a rigorous scholarly census of authors and works from the Middle Ages through the 18th century.
